Why Stowe Vermont?
Mike and I love to travel to Vermont during all seasons of the year. Since most of our guests are from out of town, we thought why not have it someplace important to the both of us. So we decided to have it at
Stowe,
one of the places where we fell in love. Besides, compared to New Jersey in January Stowe was the obvious choice.
Mount Mansfield
is the tallest mountain in Vermont and
Stowe offers some of the best terrain in the northeast. We hope you'll consider arriving on Friday so that you can enjoy a weekend on the hill with us.
Where to stay?
Ye Olde England Inne
Stowehof Inn
The ceremony and reception
will be held at the
Stowehof Inn.
We'll be spending the weekend here with our families, but we normally stay at
Ye Olde England Inne
when we're visiting Stowe . The Stowehof has an indoor pool, sauna, patios off of each room, a complimentary full breakfast each morning, a bar, restaurant and is close to Mt. Mansfield. The Stowehof will also offer a discount to people attending the wedding. We currently have a hold on most of the rooms until Thanksgiving. Please reserve your room as soon as possible.
The rehearsal dinner will
be held at the
Ye Olde England Inne
on Saturday January 26th. It is about 5 minutes from the Stowehof Inn. The Inn offers
afternoon tea, a wonderful bar and restaurant and a very good breakfast. The eggs
benedict is not to be missed.

Do you have kids?
If they no longer wear diapers, they are old enough attend
ski or snowboard camp
for the day. The staff at
Stowe
will entertain and feed your children for the whole day if you like.
Do you like to eat?
The
Ben and Jerry’s ice cream factory is not far away. They offer tours and some free samples!
Try some maple syrup from one of the farms along the road to Stowe.
Burlington
has many , chocolate shops, coffee shops and a wonderful assortment of
delicious restaurants.
Do you like to shop?
Stowe
has numerous stores with antiques, unique handcrafted gifts including jewelry, wood work, blown glass, art work, etc.
Burlington
has a pedestrian mall to walk up and down. Yes it might be cold, but bundle up and where there's one store, there is another next to it.
Do you want to try a snow sport for the first time?
Stowe
offers good deals for first timers, including lessons, rentals and lift tickets in one package.
We can also organize a small group to take lessons together.
Do you want to learn something new?
The
Vermont Teddy Bear Factory
is in the neighborhood. I have never been, but I can imagine that it must be neat to see how they make the specially crafted toys
The Ski Museum
is located in the town of Stowe.
Visit one of the maple syrup farms and see how it's made
Do you want to relax?
Swim in the pool at the hotel surrounded by the snow outside as you are protected by the warm water and the clear glass.
Take some time in the sauna also at the hotel
Order a massage
Have a full day at a spa
Getting to Stowe,
I suggest arriving on Friday night, that way you will have time to take advantage of some of the great things that Stowe has to offer.
The Stowehof also offers a cheaper rate if you stay for three nights.
From New York City it takes about 6 hours.
Scranton 6. 5 hours
Boston 3. 5 hours
Montreal 2. 5 hours
Burlington 45 minutes
Albany 4 hours
Washington DC 9.5 hours
Flying?
Flying into Burlington
is very convenient, the airport is about 45 min from Stowe but flying into Boston or Montreal might be less expensive.
There are many people coming to the wedding from the Atlanta area. Group discounts might be available for a group of ten or more. Contact Mike or Ursula early so we can try and put together a group to fly together.
Delta seems to currently have the best rates. Jet Blue also offers service into Burlington.
Registry
We've reistered for china at
Macy's
and silver at
Tiffany's.
Because we already have a well equipped kitchen, matching towels and plenty of sheets
we've decided to focus our registry on a formal table setting. Ursula is looking
forward to lots of little blue boxes.
